The Homeless Outreach & Support Team (HOST) is managed by Riverside Care & Support to provide help and support to those rough sleeping and those at risk of rough sleeping.
The Guildford-based service supports homeless people with a local connection to leave homelessness behind for good. They can also help people to reconnect with their home area, where they may have increased opportunities to access housing and support services. Their ethos is of positive engagement and support to open doors for greater opportunities, and break the cycle of rough sleeping and homelessness.
They work with people who struggle with mental and physical illnesses, as well as alcohol or drug dependencies. They help people to develop the skills they need to live independently.
HOST also works to raise awareness of homelessness within the local community. During the winter, they coordinate Severe Weather Emergency Provisions (SWEP) to ensure that no one has to risk their life sleeping rough during severe weather conditions.
Can pay for five nights in an emergency shelter for a person who is sleeping rough.
Can pay for ID that is extremely important for people trying to leave the streets.
Helps to fund access to training, or clothes to attend job interviews.
Can go towards life skills and learning such as budgeting and cooking sessions.
